The Pro tip is Discover considers new accounts anything with a new account number (double check the fine print). So it is 10% after the cash back match. Evidence includes the card which states “Member Since [four digit year]”, any cash back activation confirmed emails which have the last four of the account number and in it say “Since you’re a new cardmember, we’ll automatically match all the cash back you’ve earned at the end of your first year.2”
Other things to consider is using a referral link to get $100 upon first purchase. Signing up about a month to five-ish weeks into the quarter of the calendar to get overlap to get 5 quarters if you jam in the purchases (say sign up Early to almost mid-ish November 2025 and put purchases for that quarter on it until (give it at least 10 days before the quarter ends I have had in person purchase be postdated (transaction date and posting)) mid-ish December. Then you still would get until Mid October 2026 giving 5 quarters.)
