American Express is limiting the 35% pay with points rebate on Business Platinum when booking first & business class flights. Going forward the points rebate will only count for the cardholders selected airline. This is the same selected airline for the $200 airline incidental credit.
Use Membership Rewards Pay with Points for all or part of an eligible flight booked through American Express Travel and get 35% of those points back, up to 1,000,000 points back per calendar year.
Eligible flights include First and Business Class tickets as well as any fare class with your selected qualifying airline booked through American Express Travel.*
*Effective September 18, 2025, eligible flights will no longer include First and Business Class tickets booked on an airline that is not your selected qualifying airline.
Thoughts
This seems petty. Perhaps a move to make the airlines happy with the potential for more customer lock in.
